Each of the New Forest Health and Leisure Centres is home to a fantastic indoor 25m main pool, plus a learner pool*. Our pools are treated by UV disinfection which produces a high level of water quality, allowing us to reduce chlorine levels and therefore making the pool water kinder to your eyes and skin.
Free swimming update.
Take a look at the swimming times and you will see that the pools open early in the morning on weekdays and, being dual use centres, accommodate local schools during term-time. Most sites offer regular lunchtime and evening sessions too which are complemented by further slots during the day where possible. During holiday periods the daytime public sessions are expanded.
The New Forest Swim Academy provides a programme of swimming lessons for all ages at all centres. Lessons follow the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) National Plan for Teaching Swimming and run throughout most of the year after school and at the weekends. Intensive weekly courses are also available during school holiday periods which provide an additional boost to your swim development or perhaps an opportunity for to try another aquatic sport such as snorkelling or synchronised swimming. The centres can also offer Private Swimming Lessons, usually on a one to one or small group basis.
To ensure your comfort, enjoyment and safety the pools are supervised by trained lifeguards at all times. All staff also receive training in child protection awareness and are police checked. Spectator viewing is available and each centre has facilities to increase accessibility such as larger changing rooms, entry steps and disabled hoists. Lockers are provided and are £1 refundable.
Some centres also have Sauna and Steam facilities adjacent to poolside to enhance your swimming experience.
So make a splash... and find out more about swimming at your local centre.
* Unfortunately New Milton has only a main pool facility however, children with armbands are able to use the shallow end of the main pool and New Milton still offers a full learn to swim programme.
